Happiness is receiving gifts

A dear blogger friend sent me this box/package. She told me it was an all encompassing gift for my wedding, birthday and every occasion worth celebrating. It was filled with organic beauty products from an Aussie company. It took its sweet time getting to my neck of the woods, but I truly appreciate its contents.

Thanks, Selina! =)

Duly Noted

Taking a cue from Toni's Wifely Steps and Kayni's Corner Cafe about carrying notebooks in our bag, here's a picture of mine.

It is a spiral notebook, a corporate giveaway c/o my sister. I pasted my wedding pictures on the front and the back. It is protected by a transparent cover. By the way, the one with the stencil of the butterfly (from the Peranakan Museum in Singapore) is the front part of the notebook.

I only started bringing a notebook with me when I got married, 2 years ago. I write grocery lists, the due dates of bills and reminders. I also used it to jot down our itinerary during our recent trips to HongKong and Singapore.

Lately with the terrifying lightning storms in the afternoons in this neck of the woods, I switch off and unplug all the electrical appliances in the house so they won't get grounded. I go downstairs with my notebook and scribble movie reviews for my blog. Mostly keywords and short phrases that come to mind when I recall the film. A funny thing is that at the end of the day when I consult my notebook, I can't decipher my own handwriting. Go figure!

Yes I admit my penmanship is terrible. Perhaps I was a doctor in my previous life? Who knows?

Bedroom Furnitures

Back when I was still single, I would suddenly get the urge for a caffeine fix. So I would head to my favorite coffee shop, order an ice cold cafe and browse magazines.

Most of them are lifestyle mags which focus on fashion and make up stuff. But I always look for magazines which feature houses. I admire their articles on interior design where they give tips. For instance, "how to maximize limited condo space" or "how to get rid of carpet stains".

I also get lost between pages of lovely homes with impeccable taste. I've always loved the idea of having bedroom dressers in my room. I still don't have one due to limited space. But it doesn't stop me from dreaming about owning one, some day!

Happiness is my new digicam!

I was really surprised when my sister handed me a box. Inside was this brand new Samsung digicam. She knew that our old camera had problems with its sliding mechanism so she gifted me with a brand new one. She is really a very generous sister. I am truly a lucky gal! =)

Name Recall

When D and his friends joined together to form a business partnership, the first thing they did was to print their business cards. They picked out a layout from the various free business cards sites, online. There were a wide variety of selections available. In the end, they chose a theme which defines their business ventures in a professional yet informal manner.

After all, first impressions do count.

I'm back in the Projeks

Some random thoughts on the week that flew by!
1. I had a fabulous time with my sister.

2. I realize I develop a different persona when I'm with her.

3. The totally carefree/whatever type.

4. This equates to eating whatever I want without minding my diet.

5. Wearing tight tops/short dresses without hubby disapproving.

6. Just being my silly and naughty self.

7. Laughing at our very own private jokes.

8. I have to add I'm not disparaging my hubby for being a tad conservative.

9. He managed quite well without me.

10. I came back to a spic and span, well scrubbed and dust free house.

11. He had my PC fixed by our ever reliable technician.

12. All the wires/cables are neatly tucked in its proper places.

13. After 9 years of living in the Philippines inclusive of 2 years of marriage, I
am now blessed with a really fast connection.

14. Thank God for DSL.

15. And bless the hubby for finally agreeing to subscribe!

16. Tinkering with my newly formatted PC is tedious but quite rewarding.

17. I am still updating several software.

18. Trying to recall most if not all of my bookmarked websites.

19. There are emails to answer.

20. Reviews to compose.

21. Pictures to upload.

22. But now I need to take a break.

23. Time to exercise.

24. Sweat out all the calories I consumed.

25. Final note: I really really miss having my sister around!

Hotel stays

My sister travels alot. She has stayed in all types of accommodations ranging from 5 star hotels to the veritable inn. Since she writes about the travel trade industry, she has many funny stories which she likes to narrate. She recounts about the travails of the industry, the games people play and the shenanigans of the trade. She even has some interesting tidbits about a very common problem in low cost hotels, the bed bug legal issues. And how corporations tend to lose millions of money in settling this itchy situation. So next time you stay in a hotel, make sure there are no inconveniences that are bound to bite you! Ouch!

On a stormy day ...

July 13, 2010 I was at the mall with my sister and I finally decided to go for hair treatment and haircut. This pampering session is well overdue, it has been more than a year since I entered a hair salon.
Outside it was raining heavily as Typhoon Basyang was just about to hit landfall. By the time we were done with the pampering, the shopping and dinner, the rain had stopped so we got home without much hassle.

Then at around 11pm I was on the phone with D when the lights went out so our conversation was cut short because the phone went dead as well. Strong winds were bashing against the window and rainfall was quite heavy. I fell asleep exhausted from fanning myself but I was happy to have my sister with me. But most of all because my hair smelled really great and it was straight as a ruler. Heh.

*Just ignore the date and time on the picture, I have yet to figure out the features on my new digicam. Yes I have a new toy c/o of my generous sister who surprised me with her pasalubong.*

After 22 hours of darkness, the electricity came back on 9:30pm the next day, July 14, 2010. Without any cable to entertain us, sis and I just watched a Dvd.

Fun times! =)

World Cup finals

Time does fly by so fast when you are having so much fun. It felt just like yesterday when I started watching the World Cup games, religiously. Now just a few winks to go for the finals to kick off on July 11, 2010.

I'd like to reiterate though that all the teams I was rooting for have been all eliminated in quick succession. Nice going! Au Revoir France, Ciao Italy, Hasta la bye bye Argentina, Auf Wiedersehen Germany. :D

So I'm not going to cheer for either Dutch Boy (Holland) or Spanish Guitar (Spain). But being a Franco now, I'd just say Viva Espana!!! =)

I like to end this entry by posting the official theme song of 2010 World Cup performed by the highly energetic Shakira. It is entitled "Wawa Wawa: This Time for Africa".

Kudos to South Africa for a being such a gracious host. Kudos too to the Balls Channel for airing the matches, live. You have kept me very entertained and I have the eye bags to prove it. =)
