Theme Song
Yesterday at home, D and I together with my parents were chatting about a myriad of topics. The discussion lead to Charlie Chaplin (yes I know we talk about everything!). Dad interjected that the late comedian also composed some songs. My mother nodded and starting singing (yes she can be wacky that way) some lines from "This is My Song". This lovely ballad happens to be the theme song of my parents. A fact that I shared with D a long time ago. My mother then turns to me after she had stopped singing and asked me point blank "what's your theme song?" She was of course referring to me and D, I hmmm hesitated since I didn't know the answer to her question.

For the longest time ever since we started dating, D and I couldn't come up with a song which best describes our relationship. I did suggest a few like Carole King's "Now and Forever" and Billy Joel's "I love you just the way you are". You see the thing with D is he doesn't like listening to sad depressing love ballads. He prefers jazzy tunes. He also isn't the mushy romantic type. He isn't an emotionally sentimental person. So we never agreed on any specific song.

Anyway since I was put on the spot by my mother, I turned to D and asked him "Hon, what's our theme song?" Then I giggled because I knew that question would make him cringe. But he answered without hesitation "the one you keep listening to nowadays which was sang on American Idol" . Incidentally last week on American Idol my two favorite contestants on that show, David Cook (his version was more pop rock) and the nanny (the one with blond hair I believe her name is Brooke) both sang the same song.

So Happy Together
Imagine me and you, I do

I think about you day and night, it's only right
To think about the girl you love and hold her tight
So happy together
If I should call you up, invest a dime
And you say you belong to me and ease my mind
Imagine how the world could be, so very fine
So happy together
I can't see me loving nobody but you
For all my life
When you're with me, baby the skies will be blue
For all my life
Me and you and you and me
No matter how they toss the dice, it has to be
The only one for me is you, and you for me
So happy together
I can't see me loving nobody but you
For all my life
When you're with me, baby the skies will be blue
For all my life
Me and you and you and me
No matter how they toss the dice, it has to be
The only one for me is you, and you for me
So happy together
So happy together
How is the weather
So happy together
We're happy together
So happy together
Happy together
So happy together
So happy together (ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba)

So I blurt out "Oh So Happy Together"? He nods yes. My parents smile and said it sums up our relationship. I guess we have a theme song, after all. Never mind it is one of the corniest songs in the music industry. D chose it so it's fine by me! =)
