"Lost in Translation"
I wrote
Since I have nothing to do, I will write in French.
Why not, right?
It's been too long since I spoke to anyone in this language.
The last time was year 2000, in Paris France where I spent my holidays
for one week with my sister. I simply adore that country to death.
I also recall one time in Dubai. George accompanied me to meet up with my Lebanese friend who lived in Guinea Bissau. He spoke only French & Arabic.
It was hilarious. But he was very kind and gave me a lot of pasalubongs.
Mmmm darn! What was his name again???
It was great that George also speaks French and naturally, Arabic. He helped me when I was at a lost for the correct words.
Oh yes! Mazen! Yes, that's it. Mazen is his name.
Alright that's all. I will roll back to English now.
It's easier.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments that take our breaths away.

"Agassi: He plays, he scores, he conquers" Sort of!
I was flipping through the TV channels last night after dinner.
In search of something to watch after the evening news.
I chanced upon the Solar Sports channel.
I didn't even know this channel existed.
They were broadcasting the Australian Open.
The semi final tennis match between Marat Safin & Andre Agassi.
It was just the beginning of the first set so I said ok what the heck.
I love watching tennis.
I played tennis for a few months in Dubai.
No formal lessons.
I would tag along with my friends, Ruby, Marian & Carol.
We would go to Safa Park on Tuesdays.
Al Nasr Leisureland on Wednesdays.
Somewhere behind Port Rashid on Fridays.
We even watched the Dubai Open tournament at the Aviation Club.
They encouraged me to try it.
They even gave me a tennis racket for my birthday.
It was fun while it lasted. Then summer came and I quit.
Summers in Dubai is like living in hell.
The humidity level is suffocating especially in the evenings.
I told myself ... Geez I'm not going to kill myself playing tennis.
Back to the Safin vs Agassi match.
Agassi, by the way, reminds me so much of my immediate ex bf.
In terms of his features not his tennis skills.
I don't think Wajdi could play tennis even if his life depended on it.
The 6'4 Russian defeated the defending champion in a stunning five set victory. But I read that online at the official website of the tournament.
By the third set of the game, I couldn't keep my eyes open so I went to bed.
It was way past my self imposed bed time.

"You've got Mail"
I'm guilty of sending a lot of forwarded emails.
To my friends, acquaintances and relatives.
I don't know if they appreciate the gesture.
I never asked.
Some do - I receive their positive feedback.
Others don't reply at all.
I don't expect them to, though.
I share them to brighten their day.
As a rule, I don't send chain letters, religious and/or gory stuff.
I have 2 people who regularly emails them my way.
One is an acquaintance. The other, someone I dated briefly in Dubai.
He stopped replying to my personal emails. A long time ago.
Perhaps now, I'm just a name on his address book.
It's his prerogative. As long as he keeps them coming.
I'm game.

Ring Ring
My current ringtone:
Maybe it's wrong to say please love me too.
'Coz I know you'll never do.
Somebody else is waiting there inside for you.
Maybe it's wrong to love you more each day.
'Coz I know he's here to stay.
But I know to whom you should belong.
I get them by sending MYX TONE [artist] to 2366.
P15/download.
It's nothing compared to my expenses for international SMS.
I once finished a prepaid load of P300.
In one go. Like last night.
But I don't mind. It keeps me sane.
And no.
My ringtone doesn't describe my current relationship.
I just like the song. That's all.

The Podium
This mall is turning out to be my favorite hang out place.
It has a bank where I do all my monetary transactions.
Several eateries with wide variety of choices.
But I found out today that The Forum no longer exists.
Several coffee shops too. We are Figaro & Dome Cafe habitues.
It has 2 cinemas with guaranteed seats.
I like cinemas with reserved seating arrangements. Its convenient.
Today was my first time to watch there.
Cinema 2, row G7 & G8. 2:20 PM. Small but cosy. Freezing cold!
Guess what I watched?
"The Last Samurai".
Yes, AGAIN!
I convinced my sister to take time out from her toxic life.
I treated her to lunch and a movie.
Lunch at Penang. Nasi goreng for me. Chicken rice for her.
We burst into laughter upon realizing we both ordered chicken dishes.
Not really advisable with this avian flu breakout.
Oh well. Whatever.

"And the Winner is"
I woke up at 9AM and crawled into my sister's bed.
Surrounded by pillows, I watched the 61st Golden Globe Awards.
This annual awards handed out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is my favorite of all the awards shows. It's a great concept to combine the TV shows with the movies.
This year I loved:
Jennifer Lopez's tangerine gown, Grecian goddess style with a golden glow.
The simple soft yellow gown of Charlize Theron with ruffles.
The Sex and the City women always look great. No matter what they wear.
Nicole Kidman in a 20s era chic outfit and a playful headband on her hair.
The vagabond look with a fedora on Johnny Depp suits him mighty fine.
But on the other hand:
Meryl Streep in a black prom outfit was too frou frou for her age.
Renee Zellweger looked way too chubby in her tight blue calf length dress.
Diane Keaton's all white ensemble looks like she belonged in a Matrix movie.
Most of my predictions won.
Picture, Drama: "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King."
Actor, Drama: Sean Penn, "Mystic River."
Supporting Actress: Renee Zellweger, "Cold Mountain."
Supporting Actor: Tim Robbins, "Mystic River."
Director: Peter Jackson, "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King."
Actress, Musical, Comedy Series: Sarah Jessica Parker, "Sex and the City,".
Since I haven't seen "Angels In America" I was surprised it won several awards for HBO. But I guess with a powerful cast it was a shoo in.
Miniseries or Movie Made for Television: "Angels in America," HBO.
Actress, Miniseries or Movie Made for Television: Meryl Streep.
Actor, Miniseries or Movie Made for Television: Al Pacino.
Supporting Actress, Miniseries or Movie Made for TV: Mary-Louise Parker.
Supporting Actor, Miniseries or Movie Made for TV: Jeffrey Wright.
I'm anxiously waiting for:
"Cold Mountain": I think Jude Law rocks. A love story always gets my vote.
"Lost in Translation": Foreigner in a strange country, the story of my life.
"Love, Actually": Hugh Grant. Need I say more?
"Something's Gotta Give": Jack & Diane. An older couple. About time!

Sunday Smiles
When I woke up this morning at 10am, my parents had left for the alps.
I went downstairs to make myself coffee and found this on the kitchen table.
Dear Girls,
Bought these bracelets for you. Blessed rosary beads, stress reliever.
Please wear them. This catholic calendar too for Ollie's office.
Check if leftovers in fridge still fit to eat.
Love you girls,
Mommy
Trust my dear mom to always brighten my day with her sweet notes.
Even if when I went down to get the newspapers from the lobby.
They delivered Manila Bulletin. Instead of the Phil. Daily Inquirer.
How hard is it to understand? On Sundays, it's Phil Star & PDI.
Even if when I checked my emails.
I got one from someone I rather not deal with. EVER again.
I promptly deleted the email. Without even opening it.
Thanks Mom for the bracelet Im wearing now.
I feel calmer and less hot tempered.
I guess... it works! Whoa!

Fatigue
I wonder is it just me?
Or does it seem to be getting warm already?
Maybe it's PMS.
Or the fact that I walked all over Glorieta. Then Megamall.
Running errands all day.
Or am I getting too old already?
I can't seem to be able to sustain a whole day.
Anymore.
I feel exhausted by 8pm!
All I want to do is get home.
Hop into a refreshing shower.
Then sleep. At 10pm!
Yikes!!!
